Green Pastures Cottage is detached, facing the sea, and is surrounded by garden and its own croft land. The peace and quiet that you can find here is extraordinary, with either perfect silence or just the sound of the sea, the wind, or the birds in the distance.
There are extensive views from all the front and side windows of the cottage, looking out to sea, across to the Trotternish peninsula, and to the Ascrib Islands in the bay below. Wonderful dawns, sunsets, and cloudscapes can be seen, as well as, in the winter, the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights. (The image below of the Northern Lights is from a guest who took the picture from the cottage front door).
To the front and side there are garden areas and across the tiny croft road (no through road and very quiet) there are 4 acres of croft land belonging to the cottage. At the rear of the cottage there are a further 2 acres of rough heather covered croft land directly behind the cottage. The croft land at the front is currently managed for me by the RSPB to encourage Corncrakes. This means that occasionally there will be cattle on the croft as they graze and keep the rushes down.
There is a washing line at the side of the house if you like to hang clothes out, plus plenty of parking, and sheds where you will find bikes for your use.
